New York Mills improved to 6-4 overall and 6-2 in the Park Region Conference with a pair of wins over Wadena-Deer Creek on Tuesday night. The Eagles are currently tied with Parkers Prairie atop the Park Region Conference standings, while Sebeka is in third place with a record of 5-4. 

This week the Eagles will travel to Pillager for a double header on Tuesday night, before hosting the Otter Tail Central Bulldogs for a double header on Thursday. The team will also host Norman County East/Ulen-Hitterdal on Friday.

Tuesday

NY Mills swept a double header against Wadena-Deer Creek in commanding fashion on Tuesday night. The Eagles outscored the Wolverines by a 29-7 margin in a pair of games that ended early due to the 10-run rule. 

In the opening game of the night, the Eagles defeated the Wolverines by a score of 13-1. NY Mills wasted little time getting on the scoreboard as Grace Christianson hit a 3-run home run and Mackenzie Gilster made the game 4-0 with a fielder’s choice to bring Megan Reidel across the plate to score. 

The Eagles made the game 8-1 in the top of the third inning when Anna Meech hit an RBI single, Kailey Keskitalo hit an RBI double and Aliya Gerber hit another RBI double.

NY Mills added 5 more runs in the top of the fourth inning to bring the game to a close by the 10-run rule.

Christianson led the way offensively with a pair of extra base hits, while Reidel scored 3 times in the win. 

In the second game, the Eagles once again scored runs in bunches as they took a 3-2 lead in the bottom of the first inning when Christianson hit an RBI single and Gilster followed with a 2-run single to make the game 3-2. The Eagles added a pair of runs in the second inning, before breaking it open with a 7 run bottom of the third inning. Among the highlights of the inning was a 3-run home run off the bat of Ayla Olson. 

The Eagles ended the game in walk off fashion in the bottom of the sixth inning when Reidel hit a 2-run double to end the game by the 10-run rule by a score of 16-6.

Thursday

Early errors led to a 6-run bottom of the first inning and proved to be the difference in a 10-1 loss to Browerville-Eagle Valley on Thursday night. 

Browerville followed their big first inning with a pair of runs in the second inning and 1 run each in the third and fourth innings to come with the win.

The lone run for the Eagles came in the fourth inning.

Grace Christianson led the way offensively with a pair of hits in the loss, including a double. She was the lone Eagle to finish the game with a hit.
