The New York Mills track teams competed in a pair of meets last week including a meet in Perham on Tuesday and Sebeka on Thursday night. 

Tuesday

Daunte Leiran led the charge for the NY Mills track team with a first place in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.10, while Trey Gilster took sixth place with a time of 12.06. Leiran also took second place in the shot put with a throw of 44’ 6”

In the long jump, Gilster took second place with a jump of 16’ 9” and in the discus Nolan Cassidy took second place with a throw of 118’ 6”. Cassidy took fourth place in the shot put with a throw of 40’ 3 1/2”.

Ashley Kassa and Katherin Garcia led the charge for the girls team in the 100-meter dash on Tuesday as they finished in second and third place. Kassa finished with a time of 13.45 and Garcia took third with a time of 13.93 and Garcia also took fifth place in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:10.79.

In the 200-meter dash, Kassa and eighth grader Alayna Baune duplicated that feat as Kassa took second place with a time of 28.88 and Baune took third place with a time of 29.45. 

In the long jump, Aidyn Baune took third place with a jump of 13’ 11” and Bella Bauck finished in fifth place with a jump of 13’9 1/2”. Aidyn Baune also took second place in the triple jump with a jump of 32’ 1”.

In the high jump, Irene Mursu took fourth place with a jump of 4’ 4”.

Thursday

Ashley Kassa secured a pair of third place finishes in the 100-meter and 200-meter dashes with times of 13.99 and 29.67 to help lead the Eagles’ charge in Sebeka on Thursday night.

In the 400-meter dash, Aidyn Baune took second place with a time of 1:09.37.

In the field events, Bella Bauck led the way with a first place finish in the triple jump with a jump of 32’ 9”. She narrowly edged teammate Aidyn Baune, who finished in second place with a jump of 31’ 6 12/”. Bauck also took second place in the long jump with a jump of 14’ 9”. 

On the boys side, Daunte Leiran took second place in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.69. He was just .18 seconds behind first place and finished just .04 seconds ahead of third place. He also took second place in the shot put with a throw of 43’ 3 1/4”, while Nolan Cassidy took fourth place with a throw of 35’ 7”.

Cassidy finished in second place in the discus with a throw of 111’ 3”, while Leiran took third place with a throw of 111’ 3”.
