Sheriff deputies reported that a fire northeast of Bluffton, near Highway 68, destroyed a shop and equipment on June 11.

The total loss was estimated at close to $200,000. 

Faulty wiring on a diesel generator was believed to be the cause of the fire. Firefighters were called to the scene close to 6:30 p.m.

Responding to the scene of the fire were Otter Tail County firefighters from Bluffton, New York Mills and Deer Creek.

Ottertail, Elizabeth

Two weekend traffic accidents led to injuries in Otter Tail County, both on Sunday, June 13.

The first accident took place at 10:07 a.m. on Highway 78 at the northeast side of Otter Tail Lake, near the town of Ottertail.

Deputies said one person was injured in a single-vehicle accident. There were three people inside the vehicle.

The injury sustained by Madalyn Thoemke, 22, of Oakdale, Minnesota, was non-life threatening. Ottertail Rescue and Henning Ambulance assisted at the scene of the accident. The victim was taken to the hospital in Perham.

Deputies said the second accident on June 13 took place at 4:45 p.m. on Highway 10, east of Elizabeth.

The driver lost control of the vehicle, entered the ditch and struck a power pole. The driver of the truck suffered a hand injury and was transported to the hospital in Fergus Falls.
