Sheriff deputies, on June 28, reported that a woman who resides near Highway 14 near Richville lost close to $13,000 in an Amazon scam.

Her bank has been notified and her account is frozen.

Deputies and other law enforcement agencies warn county residents to never do business with a person who says he or she represents Amazon, off the Amazon website. Never send a payment if you are uncomfortable with a transaction.

Also keep in mind that Amazon will never ask you for personal information.

Driver arrested

following accident

A driver who sustained a minor injury June 25 on Highway 108 near Pelican Rapids was later arrested for possession of a controlled substance and DWI.

There was also a warrant for his arrest related to a previous hit and run and property damage.  County sheriff deputies were assisted by the State Highway Patrol in making this arrest.

Traffic accident results

in life-threatening injury

One person was critically injured in a June 27 accident at the intersection of Aerovilla Road and 410th Avenue, northwest of Perham.

The driver was ejected from the vehicle. The victim was first taken to the Perham hospital and later was transferred to the Sanford medical facility in Fargo.

Thefts reported

Keys were taken from various vehicles inside a barn at Hickory Road near Wall Lake, west of Underwood. This likely involved a family member, reported sheriff deputies on June 26.

A trailer was reported as stolen near Dalton on June 27. On the trailer at the time of the theft were a plow, furnace, water heater and stack of lumber. The total loss was estimated at close to $10,000.

Sheriff deputies said the trailer was insured and there were no immediate suspects.

Vandalism reported

A duck boat was vandalized at West Bank Road, on the west side of Star Lake, southwest of Dent.

The value of the boat was estimated at $250. The incident was reported on June 27 and likely took place in the previous three weeks.
