Bluffton sweeps double header with Perham

Bluffton swept a double header with Perham on Friday night by scores of 9-5 and 7-2. In the opening game of the night, the Braves jumped out to an early lead with a big 4-run third inning and added 4 more runs in the top of the seventh inning to give the Braves a bit of breathing room. 

The Braves opened the scoring in the third inning when Tom Tellers scored on a Jake Dykhoff sacrifice fly to left field. Kevin Tumberg followed with a home run and Josh Dykhoff would later score for the fourth run of the inning. 

The Braves added another run in the top of the sixth inning when Payton Rondestvedt hit a solo home run to lead off the inning.

The game was broken wide open with another 4-run inning in the top of the seventh inning. The first six hitters of the inning all reached base safely with Kyle Dykhoff leading off the inning with a single. He was followed by back-to-back doubles by Wyatt Hamann and Rondestvedt doubles. Preston Warren and Tellers followed with walks, before Kurt Mursu reached on a fielder’s choice. Jake Dykhoff then reached on a single, before the inning came to an end on a double play.

The Pirates scored a pair of unearned runs in the bottom half of the seventh inning to cut the lead to 9-5, but would get no closer as the Braves came away with the win.

In the nightcap, the Braves once again put together a late rally to pull away from Perham to complete the two game sweep. 

Bluffton opened the scoring in the second inning when Justin Dykhoff led off the inning with a single and would later come around to score. 

In the third inning, Tom Tellers hit a solo home run and Bluffton was able to score one run for the third straight inning when Kyle Dykhoff led off the inning with a double and eventually came around to score. The Braves had the bases loaded with just one out in the fourth inning but was unable to come away with another run.

The game was blown open in the bottom of the sixth inning when Wyatt Hamann led off the inning with a single, Gabe Geiser reached on an error and Skylar Mursu followed with a single of his own. All three hitters would eventually score, as would Payton Rondestvedt who hit a one out single. 

Dustin Geiser picked up the win on the mound as he pitched all 7 innings and gave up 5 hits, 2 earned runs and struck out 6 hitters. 

Jake Dykhoff secured a win in the opening game of the night as he pitched 6 innings and gave up 5 hits, 3 earned runs and struck out 7 hitters.

Saturday

Justin Dykhoff threw a gem on Saturday night as he gave up just 1 hit and struck out 10 hitters as the Braves secured a 2-0 win over Deer Creek. The lone hit came in the bottom of the eighth inning.

The Braves opened the scoring in the top of the fifth inning when Preston Warren hit a two out single. He would eventually come around to score to break a 0-0 tie. 

Bluffton added an insurance run with two outs in the eighth inning when Justin Dykhoff hit a two out single, and would eventually score. Josh Dykhoff followed with a double, before Kyle Dykhoff and Wyatt Hamann followed with back-to-back walks. 

Justin Dykhoff and Josh Dykhoff led the way offensively with a pair of hits. 

Justin Dykhoff picked up the win on the mound as he gave up just 1 hit in the bottom of the eighth inning.
