Sheriff deputies, on Sept. 5, reported the death of a pickup driver on Highway 24 in west central Otter Tail County.

The accident took place at 2:24 p.m. The name of the victim was not immediately available.

Deputies said Pelican Rapids ambulance personnel and fire department personnel assisted at the scene of the accident. Extrication became necessary.

The vehicle was taken from the scene of the accident by Beyer’s Towing of Fergus Falls.

More catalytic

converters stolen

Otter Tail County sheriff deputies said a resident reported the theft of catalytic converters from three vehicles on Sept. 5. They were taken from a location near Highway 46 east of Parkers Prairie.

A catalytic converter is an exhaust emission control device that reduces toxic gases and pollutants.

Thieves oftentimes take the stolen converters to metal recyclers. Buyers pay an average of $50 per catalytic converter for copper and other metals inside the converter.
