One person was injured Oct. 6 in a one-vehicle rollover on Highway 53, near Perham. The accident took place at 1:40 p.m.

Sheriff deputies said the vehicle was northbound when the driver, a male, fell asleep. The vehicle then hit an approach, landing on the driver’s side.

The man sustained minor injuries and was taken to the hospital in Perham.

Homeowner scammed

A resident of West Leaf Lake, north of Henning, was scammed out of $15,000. The incident was reported to sheriff deputies on Oct. 6.

Several months ago the county resident paid $15,000 in advance of work at the Leaf Lake home. However, the other party never did show up to do the work.

The Leaf Lake resident will forward a fraud report to a Chief Administrative Officer (CAO).

Homeowners, according to law enforcement personnel, should never pay more than 10 percent to 20 percent before work begins at a house. There are exceptions, such as when preordering custom-specialized materials.
