Testing can take place at several locations

Testing for COVID-19 is an important step in controlling the pandemic.

Testing enables individuals who are positive for the coronavirus to isolate themselves—reducing the chances that they will infect others and allowing treatment earlier, likely reducing disease severity and the risk of long-term disability or death. Testing is available to anyone in Minnesota at no cost.

There are several COVID-19 testing options available to help make testing as convenient as possible and to remove any possible barriers:

  • Community Testing Sites—there are several community testing sites throughout the state. Walk-ins are welcome, however signing up ahead of time helps long lines and makes social distancing easier. The nearest community testing site is in Moorhead. Appointments can be scheduled at https://mncovidtestingappt.as.me/

• At-home Testing—an at-home saliva testing kit is available through the Minnesota Department of Health at no charge for any person who believes they need to be tested. Order your test at https://learn.vaulthealth.com/state-of-minnesota/. Simply ship your sample to the specified lab using a prepaid UPS package and get your result in 24 to 48 hours after your sample arrives.

• Pharmacies—select pharmacies around the area offer on-site testing as well as testing kits to do at home.

• Clinic—the Perham Health Clinic offers testing by appointment only Monday through Friday. Call (218) 347-1200.

Unless you are seriously ill, you should not go to an emergency department for COVID-19 testing.
