Sheriff deputies reported four minor injuries in a single-vehicle traffic accident just west of Deer Creek at 10:04 p.m. on Oct. 18.

The accident took place at the intersection of Highway 50 and 550th Avenue. A rollover was reported.

Deputies said the driver of a 2005 Chevrolet Tahoe, 42-year-old Eric Ortega of New York Mills, lost control of his vehicle. The Tahoe entered the west ditch which caused the vehicle to roll.

Injured were Ortega and another adult as well as two juveniles who also were in the vehicle. All four were taken to the hospital in Perham.

Responding to the scene of the accident were the Deer Creek Fire and Rescue personnel as well as Henning Ambulance.

Alcohol was believed to be a contributing factor in the accident.

Vehicles vandalized, several firearms stolen

Sheriff deputies, on Oct. 19, reported vandalism to several vehicles at Big Rock Road near Dead Lake, southwest of Dent.

“The owner says that seven firearms, both rifles and shotguns, were stolen from an enclosed structure,” said a sheriff deputy.

State and federal authorities have also been contacted regarding the theft of the firearms.

Home for sale

broken into

The owner of a home for sale was broken into at an undisclosed location on 250th Street in south central Otter Tail County.

Nobody was living in the residence at the time of the incident. The owner was reportedly coming to the home, after being contacted by authorities, to see what was possibly stolen.

The call came in to authorities on Oct. 19. It’s likely that a neighbor discovered the break-in and called sheriff deputies.
