Watch for deer while
driving in November
Historically, November is the most dangerous month for deer collisions with drivers on Minnesota roadways.
Sheriff deputies and other law enforcement agencies urge drivers to slow down, particularly at dusk and dawn.
Here are some other important safety tips:
• If you see one deer, be prepared to see more cross the road.
• Pay attention to deer crossing signs.
• Use your high beans to see further, except when there is oncoming traffic.
• Brake if you can, but avoid swerving, which can result in a more severe crash.
• Remain focused on the road. Scan for potential dangers, including animals.
• Avoid distractions. This can cause you to not see a deer until it is too late.
• If riding a motorcycle, always wear protective gear. Keep focused on the road ahead.
