Adopt-A-Class program returns to NYM School

The New York Mills Elementary School Adopt-A-Class program is back this year. The district has announced the classroom and business partnerships for the 2021-22 school year.
The partnerships include: Farmer’s Daughter Rustic Bakery and Pre-K; Mills Country Market and Pre-K; Central Minnesota Credit Union and kindergarten; NYM Public Library and first grade; Designs By Tes and second grade; Centennial Realty and second grade; Farmers & Merchants State Bank and third grade; Mills Locker Plant and fourth grade; Lake Country Home Care and fifth grade; and Lumber Depot and sixth grade.
The goal of this project is to build relationships between NY Mills businesses, students, and the community. Adopt-A-Class invites the community into the school in support of teachers and their students. By adopting a class (an entire grade), businesses form partnerships with specific grade levels by providing moral support and positive feedback to students. This partnership also allows students to learn about businesses in NY Mills and share their talents.
This program is intended to be an opportunity for grades to display art/classroom work at the business partnership, find unique ways to work together throughout the year, and possibly a chance for the students to visit their partnered business. Any and all ideas for collaboration are welcome between the businesses and classrooms.
Many classes in various grade levels have already started displaying artwork at their Adopt-A-Class businesses around NY Mills. The fifth grade students made holiday cards for Lake Country Home Care to give to their clients, employees from Farmers & Merchants State Bank have stopped in to read to the third graders and more plans are in the works for the Adopt-A-Class partnerships.
These partnerships will be in effect for the remainder of the 2021-22 school year. Anyone who would like to support the businesses in their partnership with their designated grade level can reach out to that business. And be on the lookout for photos and postings of Adopt-A-Class activities throughout the school year.
