A GoFundMe account has been established for long-time New York Mills Police Officer Ron Smith.

According to the GoFundMe page, Smith was admitted to Lakewood Health System as he battled complications from COVID-19. He was put on a ventilator and later transferred to St. Luke’s Hospital in Duluth, Minn., where he remains today.

The GoFundMe page requested that above all else that people keep the Smith family in their prayers, but the account was set up to help with a variety of expenses.

According to the GoFundMe Page, “we wish prayer more than anything. The healing power of prayer is how Ron will come home, and the more blessings we can have sent to Ron, the stronger Ron will feel.”

The page was set up on Sunday night, and by Monday evening, 52 people had already donated to the Smith family. To locate the GoFundMe page set up in Smith’s honor, go to www.gofundme.com and search for Ron Smith.
