NYM to host Henning in a battle between state ranked teams

New York Mills improved to 17-1 overall and 9-0 in the Park Region Conference with a pair of lopsided games last week.

The Eagles opened the week with an 88-60 game against Pillager, before traveling to Rothsay on Saturday for a 73-47 win over the Tigers.

This week the Eagles have a pair of PRC games. On Tuesday the fifth ranked Eagles will host the sixth ranked Henning Hornets in a match up between the top two teams in the conference and in the sub section standings. The last time the two teams played the Eagles defeated Henning by a score of 58-56 in overtime. The Hornets come into the game with a record of 16-1 overall.

On Friday, NY Mills will travel to Bertha-Hewitt in another conference match up. The Bears come into the game with a record of 3-15 overall. 

Following Friday’s road game, five of NY Mills’ final six games of the season will be at home. NY Mills will wrap up their regular season on Tuesday, March 1 in a non-conference game against Browerville.

Thursday

NY Mills hit the road on Thursday and came away with an 88-60 win over Pillager. 

Head coach Mike Baune said the game was a bit of a sloppy up tempo game, however, the Eagles scored a number of transition points to come away with another important conference win.

Tate Olson came just 1 assist shy of registering a triple-double as the senior scored 27 points, pulled down 17 rebounds and had 9 assists. He also had 5 steals in the game.

Jonah Johnson scored 24 points, finished with 7 steals, 4 rebounds and 4 assists; while Noah Noffsinger scored 13 points and had 4 assists. Breck Hensch joined them in double figures with 10 points and 6 rebounds.

Also scoring for the Eagles was Bryan Bohn with 6 points and Jack Peeters with 4 points and 4 rebounds. 

Saturday

In what head coach Mike Baune said was one of their most complete games of the season, NY Mills defeated Rothsay by a score of 73-47 on Saturday. The Eagles got a number of players involved in the game heading into Tuesday’s rematch with the Henning Hornets.

Tate Olson registered a triple-double in the game as he scored 19 points, pulled down 18 rebounds and finished with 10 assists. Noah Noffsinger matched his team high 19 points, while also having 2 rebounds and 2 assists. Jack Peeters scored 17 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists, while Jonah Johnson scored 10 points and 7 assists. Breck Hensch rounded out the scoring with 4 points, 3 rebounds and 2 assists.
