0Central Lakes College instructors Kristina Ehnert and Sue Bremer have been named 2021-22 Central Lakes College Board of Trustees Outstanding Educators.
Ehnert teaches accounting and business classes and Bremer serves as a healthcare administration specialist instructor. This honor includes nominations by students and peers, as well as a recommendation from a committee of CLC employees.
“Kristina and Sue exemplify each of our values at Central Lakes College,” said Dr. Hara Charlier, president of CLC. “They are dedicated to student success and foster a culture of caring in their classrooms that ensures every student feels welcome. Congratulations to these two truly outstanding instructors!”
“I am honored to be recognized and would like to thank my colleagues, mentors and students,” Bremer said. “It is because of them that I continue to strive to be better. I taught revenue management as an adjunct for a few years before transitioning to teaching full-time 11 years ago. I worked in the business side of healthcare for over 16 years and moving to the education side required different skills. I admit that I am still learning and appreciate the collaboration and educational opportunities the college community provides. The energy you feel from the college and the students makes me want to do more and be better. It is true, time flies when you are having fun.”
“Receiving the CLC Outstanding Educator award is truly humbling,” said Ehnert, who has taught at CLC for 11 years. Prior to CLC, she spent a decade in corporate accounting. “I couldn’t have earned this all on my own; I’ve been very blessed with several great mentors and inspirational leaders along the way. They have shaped and helped me grow into the Accounting & Business instructor I am today. I am enthusiastic about sharing my passion for accounting and business with my students each day!”
Ehnert and Bremer will represent CLC at the BOT Award ceremony in St. Paul, Minn. later this spring and will be under consideration for selection as one of several Minnesota State BOT Educators of the Year. Previous CLC educators to receive this high honor include Darci Goeden, Betsy Picciano, Adam Marcotte, Kari Frisch and Tanya Hoting-Mrazek.
