Sheriff deputies, on April 1, reported the theft of a handgun from an undisclosed location in Underwood.

The person who reported the incident said the stolen firearm was a 9mm handgun. As of April 4 the owner was submitting the serial number to authorities.

Welder, other items stolen

The theft of a welder and other items from reported from a resident at Rainy Lake, southeast of Parkers Prairie, on April 1.

Taken from a garage was a Vulan brand welder valued at close to $900 and other items. A full list of missing items was being submitted to sheriff deputies on April 4.

Road accidents, injuries reported

Two roadway accidents with injuries were reported in Otter Tail County on April 5.

The first accident, at 6:21 a.m., involved a a single vehicle, southbound, that crashed near the intersection of Highway 29 and 310th Street, northeast of Deer Creek.

“The driver said her windshield was covered with slush when she saw a semi truck, northbound, approaching in the other lane. There was no collision of the two vehicles but the southbound vehicle drifted into the ditch,” said a sheriff deputy.

The woman in the ditch complained of back pain. She was taken to the Tri-County Hospital in Wadena.

The second accident took place at 8:11 a.m. on Interstate 94 in southwestern Otter Tail County. 

Sheriff deputies said the driver lost control of the vehicle and ended up in the median. This driver also reported back pain and was treated at the hospital in Fergus Falls.
