Burlingame excited to be a part of Ottertail community

Nessa Burlingame has spent the past month getting to know the Ottertail community on a different level.

The Ottertail resident was working as a personal banker at United Community Bank when she applied for the position of deputy clerk with the City of Ottertail. She was hired by the city council and began her new responsibilities in the city office on April 4. The position became available when city clerk Elaine Hanson announced her retirement, effective at the end of May. Previous deputy clerk, Amanda Thorson, was promoted to fill Hanson’s position.

Burlingame said she was excited for the opportunity to get to know the community, which she has called home for almost 11 years, on a different level. She was also looking forward to the chance to get to know more people in the community. 

While Ottertail is still a small community, Burlingame said there is quite a bit that goes on in town and in the city office. That comes with the territory in a community as new housing continues to go up as fast as people can find vacant lots and a contractor to complete the work.

Burlingame lives in Ottertail with her husband Judah and their seven-year-old son. When she isn’t working, Burlingame said she enjoys spending time with her family, as well as spend time in the water during the summer months.
