Millers to host Deer Creek on Saturday

Derin Gaudette broke a 3-3 tie with a home run in the top of the ninth inning to help the New York Mills Millers improve to 3-0 on Sunday afternoon.

After Ethan Hendrickx reached on an error to open the inning, Gaudette folowed with a home run to give the Millers the lead. Later in the inning, Caden Roberts hit an RBI double to bring Drey Roberts around to score to make the game 6-3 in favor of the Millers. 

Gaudette retired Nimrod in order in the bottom half of the ninth inning to seal the win for the Millers. 

NY Mills outhit the Gnats by a margin of 12-2 after scoring single runs in the first, second and fifth innings. All of Nimrod’s runs came in the bottom of the eighth inning inning. The Gnats tied the game at 3-3 thanks to an error with two outs that allowed a pair of runners to cross the plate.

Gaudette picked up the win on the mound in relief as he pitched 1 1/3 innings and gave up no hits or runs, while striking out 2 hitters. Austin Maneval started the game for the Millers and pitched 7 2/3 innings and have up just 2 hits and 1 earned run, while striking out 11 hitters.

Gaudette led the way offensively as he was just a triple short of hitting for the cycle. Caden Roberts also finished with 3 hits, while Drey Roberts hit a pair of doubles in the win. 

The Millers will return to action on Saturday when they host Deer Creek. Opening pitch is set for 7:15 p.m.
