Fire destroys chicken coop, mower, fish house

Sheriff deputies, on May 22, reported the theft of about 65 catalytic converters and copper scrap cable, near New York Mills, with a combined value of close to $10,500.

The exact location of the theft was in Newton Township, east of New York Mills.

It is believed that suspects forced their way into a secure building. The catalytic converters were valued at close to $6,500 and the copper scrap cable was valued at a minimum of $4,000.

Fire destroys chicken coop, mower and fish house

Sheriff deputies, on May 24, reported that fire destroyed a chicken coup near Fish Lake, north of Underwood, as well as a riding lawn mower and fish house. 

Inside the chicken coop were a rooster, hen and two ducks that were deceased. 

“Two vehicles sustained fire damage,” said a sheriff deputy. “The side of the residence sustained heat damage.” 

Authorities said they suspected that the fire started as the result on an electrical malfunction.
