Five NYM track team members advance to sections

Jada Goeson took third place with a new personal record in the 800-meters, while Ashley Kassa picked up a pair of top seven finishes at the sub section track meet in Pillager on Thursday night.

Goeson finished with a time of 2:28.71 in the 800-meter run, which was just 3 seconds off of the top spot. 

Meanwhile, Kassa took seventh place in both the 100-meter dash with a season record of 14.17, as well as a season record in the 200-meter dash with a time of 29.58 to also take seventh place. She finished right behind Katherin Garcia in the 200-meter dash as she took sixth place with a time of 29.43. 

In the 300-meter hurdles, Payton Lausten took sixth place with a personal record time of 52.91. 

On the boys side, Elijah Geiser was the top finisher as he took 11th place in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:21.89.

The top six finishers individually, along with the next four fastest times in the section, and the top three relays and the next two best times will compete at the section meet, which is set for Thursday in Pelican Rapids.

The Eagles will have five competitors at the section meet including Kassa in the 100-meter dash, Goeson in the 800-meter run, Lausten in the 300-meter hurdles, Garcia in the 200-meter dash and Brielle Malone in the 3200-meter run.
