Friday

Fans who like offense got their money worth on Friday night as NY Mills and Perham combined for 21 hits and 12 runs. Fortunately, the Millers outslugged Perham 11-10 and came away with an 8-4 win.

The Millers wasted little time getting on the scoreboard as  Derin Gaudette hit a 2-run home run over the left field fence to bring both himself and Caden Roberts across the plate.

NY Mills jumped out to a 5-0 lead after adding 3 more runs in the top of the third inning. All of the runs came with two outs and was started when Tyler Patron hit an RBI double. Ethan Hendrickx and Maison Roberts added RBI singles to make the game 5-0 in favor of the Millers.

The Pirates made the game 5-1 in the bottom half of the third inning, before Gaudette hit an RBI double to put the Millers back in front by a score of 6-1.

After the Millers scored 2 more runs in the top of the ninth inning, the Pirates tried to mount a comeback in the ninth inning, but NY Mills was able to limit the bleeding and surrendered just 3 runs to come away with an 8-4 win.

Gaudette led the way offensively as he went 3-5 with 3 RBIs. He was just a triple away from hitting for the cycle. He also picked up the win on the mound as he surrendered just 2 runs and 9 hits over 8 1/3 innings. He also struck out 10 hitters.

Sunday

Runs, and hits for that matter, we of a premium on Sunday as the Millers fell to Verndale by a score of 1-0.

The lone run of the game came in the bottom of the fifth inning on a two out double.

Despite not being able to get a run across the plate, the Millers had several opportunities to score a run. Their best chance was in the top of the eighth inning when Brandon Kupfer and Ethan Hendrickx led off the inning with a single and a walk. They were then bunted over the second and third base to leave two runners in scoring position with just one out. Unfortunately, the next two hitters truck out, which ended the scoring opportunity.

Caden Roberts took the loss on the mound, despite striking out 13 hitters and giving up just 3 hits.
