The annual Finn Creek Folk Festival is set for Aug. 20-21 and will be offering a number of family-friendly events again this year. From learning Finnish in the schoolhouse to seeing some animals up close in the petting barn, the festival will be chock full of different opportunities.

These opportunities are a lot of hard work and Finn Creek is asking for volunteers of all ages and backgrounds to help make this summer’s festival a success.

Volunteer opportunities range from working at the gate, helping with parking, cashiering in the gift shop, preparing meals in both the little and big kitchens, selling pop at the concession stand, scooping ice cream, and many other general duties. Every volunteer will be trained ahead of time and their name tag earns them something from the kitchen at the end of their shift.

Teenagers that need service hours to submit to their school can earn much needed volunteer time during the festival. Volunteers can sign off on hours worked once your shift is over.

Do any of these sound like the opportunity for you to learn, grow, and get involved with your community like you’ve been looking for? If so, make sure to send Finn Creek a message on Facebook, or give them a call at (218) 385-2233.

Finn Creek Open Air Museum celebrates the Finnish-American experience and culture of those who immigrated to this area in the late 1800s and early 1900s. The museum is run totally by volunteers and is always looking for new faces to join their cause.
