NYM improves to 2-0 in PRC, 6-3 overall

New York Mills improved to 6-3 overall and 2-0 in the Park Region Conference with a pair of wins last week.

The Eagles opened the week with a 3-0 win over Lake Park-Audubon on Tuesday, before defeating Verndale by a score of 3-1 on Thursday night in Park Region Conference action.

This week the Eagles hosted Norman County East/Ulen-Hitterdal on Monday night, before traveling to Sebeka in conference action on Thursday. 

NY Mills will return to home on September 26 when they host Brandon-Evansville in non-conference action.

Tuesday

NY Mills won a close first game by a score of 28-26, before blowing past Lake Park-Audubon on Tuesday night by a score of 3-0. After a back-and-forth first game, the Eagles won the second game by a score of 25-13 and the third game by a commanding score of 25-8. 

Kali Olson led the Eagle charge on the offensive end of the court with 15 kills, while Ayla Olson also reached double digits in kills with 10 of her own. Ayla Olson led the team with 11 assists, while Kali Olson finished with 10 assists.

Bella Bauck led the team in digs with 13, while Ayla Olson finished with 12 digs in the game. 

Grace Brasel had a perfect night from the service line by going 20-20, while Kaylee Meech finished with 3 ace serves.

Thursday

The Eagles dropped the first game, but were able to rebound in a big way as NY Mills defeated Verndale in Park Region Conference by a score of 3-1 on Thursday night.

After the Pirates won the first game by a score of 25-21, NY Mills tied the match up at 1-1 by winning the second game by a score of 25-16. The third game was once again a back-and-forth affair with the Eagles coming out on top by a score of 25-22, before NY Mills defeated Verndale by a score of 25-12 in the fourth game to complete the 3-1 win.

Kali Olson had a big game at the net as the senior finished with 19 kills and had 6 blocks. Ayla Olson led the team in assists with 21, while finishing with 4 ace serves and 9 kills. She also led the team in digs with 13.

Bella Bauck finished with 12 digs and Kaylee Meech finished with 11. Grace Brasel and Kaylee Meech each finished with 3 ace serves.
