Roberts named as district defensive player of the year

New York Mills football coach Matt Radniecki was named as the 2022 Northwest District coach of the year. Radniecki was honored as part of the annual district football awards ceremony. 

The Eagles finished the season with a district championship and a record of 8-2 overall. NY Mills finished with a 5-1 record in the district.

In addition to Radniecki, Bode Roberts was named as the defensive player of the year, as well as the defensive lineman of the year. 

Jonah Ruther was honored as the defensive back of the year, while Peder Butenhof was named as the district assistant coach of the year. 

All-district first team members include Brayden Ehnert, Monte Briard, Ruther, Roberts and Will Oakes.

NY Mills players named to the all-district honorable mention team was DaShaun Robinson, Sam Kopveiler and Jon Rinerson.
