The VFW Post 3289 Auxiliary Meeting was held on November 9 with 16 members and 2 guests present.

The annual inspection of Auxiliary records was done before the meeting by 9th District Chief of Staff Karen Haugen.  Everything was in order and she  complimented our Auxiliary for all of the projects that we are involved in.

There was one petition for new membership.

Minutes from the October 13 meeting were approved, and the October 31 Treasurer’s Report was filed subject to audit.

A thank you card was received from the East Otter Tail County Midwest Dairy Association for a sponsorship in support of their malt wagon at the county fair.

The Cancer Aid and Veterans and Family Support raffle drawing will be held November 11.

Donations for Soldier Care packages can be dropped off at the Mills Lucky Strike Lanes in New York Mills or at the Post.  The Auxiliary will assemble the care packages on Monday, December 5 at 1:00 p.m. at the bowling alley.

The Auxiliary will help with the Thanksgiving Community Meal on Wednesday, November 23 at Trinity Lutheran Church in New York Mills.

Auxiliary members helped with resident activities and played Bingo at Mills Manor last month.

Legislative information was shared with Juniors at New York Mills High School before election day.

A short video was posted on Facebook highlighting several Auxiliary members and their membership in the organization.

The Veterans Day program will be on November 10 at the school.  Poppies will be given out, and quilts will be presented to three Veterans.  Local Voice of Democracy and Patriots Pen winners will be announced, and they will read their essays. The Auxiliary will donate $250 toward a light lunch at the Post following the Veterans Day program.

The Auxiliary will participate in the local Christmas Tree Festival held November 26 – December 3 and supply art and craft materials for community members to make cards for the Soldier Care Packages, Veterans and Veteran’s Home Residents.

The First Responders Dinner will be held sometime after the first of the year.

The District 9 meeting will be December 10 in East Grand Forks, and the Mid-Winter Conference will be in Brooklyn Park January 12-15, 2023.

Other business: Approved a $250 medical grant, a $250 donation to the District 9 President Amanda Weller’s Project (Patriotic Assistance Dogs), and draped the Charter for Auxiliary member Ruth Barden who passed away October 14.

Our next meeting will be on December 8 at 6 p.m. at the Post.
