Sheriff deputies, on Dec. 29, reported that fire destroyed a house in rural Erhard. Authorities were called to the scene at 5:03 p.m.

The house was owned by Pamela Forer on 230th Avenue, a few miles southeast of Erhard. Also responding to the scene of the fire were fire crews from Pelican Rapids and Elizabeth.

“The cause of the fire is under investigation by the state Fire Marshal’s Office and the county Sheriff’s Office,” said a sheriff deputy. “Thankfully there were no injuries.”

The Red Cross assisted family members.

Snowmobiler injured

A snowmobiler was injured close to 7:30 p.m. on Dec. 29 near Big McDonald Lane, northwest of Dent. The individual’s snowmobile rolled and the victim suffered a broken collarbone.

Sheriff deputies said the victim was taken to the hospital in Perham. 

Suspect in fish

house theft

Sheriff deputies, on Dec. 31, reported a possible suspect following a theft at a fish house at Big McDonald Lake, northwest of Dent.

Missing from the fish house were three locators, rods and reels, an ice fishing sonar unit valued at $600 and other fishing accessories.
