Community kick-off to highlight events for upcoming year

The annual New York Mills Community Kick-Off is just around the corner and the NY Mills Civic & Commerce has invited everyone from the community to join in and learn about what’s going on around New York Mills.

The event will be held Wednesday, Jan. 18 with a social hour and light meal at 5:30 p.m. at the City Hall Ballroom and the meeting will begin at 6 p.m.

Updates on recent events in the community as well as a discussion of future goals for the community will be among the topics which also include a mayoral address from Marsha Maki on the state of the city, a safety update from Police Chief Bobby Berndt, an update on the NY Mills school from Superintendant Blaine Novak, some information about the NY Mills Civic & Commerce from Latham Hetland, organization president. Maggie Fresonke from Elevate will also be presenting about the new community organization which specializes in healthy aging and community involvement.

“We’re talking about NY Mills 2025,” said Hetland, “What has been happening and what we’re aiming to accomplish in the next year.”

The event will also be livestreamed on the NY Mills Civic & Commerce Facebook page starting at 6 p.m.
