Voters from across the region went to the polls on Tuesday, March 14 for the annual township elections. 

Local Otter Tail County results from the township elections are as follows:

Deer Creek Township

A total of voters turned out to reelect Cheri Kopveiler (11 votes) as treasurer and Mike Harder (11 votes) as supervisor.

Leaf Lake Township

A total of 16 voters turned out to reelect Peter Bakka (16 votes) as supervisor and Matt Thorson (15 votes) as treasurer.

Otter Tail Township

Eight voters turned out to reelect Mark Cordes (8 votes) as supervisor (3 year term) and Tim Lueders (8 votes) as treasurer (2 year term).

“That’s typical for Otter Tail Township,” said Greg Swanberg, township clerk. 

Compton Township

A small number of voters turned out to reelect Larry Richter as Supervisor and Miriam Decock as treasurer.

Blowers Township

Seven voters turned out to reelect Dan Huwe (7 votes) as treasurer and Jon Broughton (7 votes) as supervisor (3-year term).

Voter numbers were down this year from 28 in 2022 when there were multiple candidates.

Bluffton Township

Nine voters turned out to reelect Mary Roggenkamp (9 votes) as treasurer (2 year term). There was no running candidate for supervisor, but there were a few write-in votes. David Vorderbruggen was elected by seven write-in votes as supervisor for a 3 year term.

Homestead Township

A total 16 voters turned out to reelect Corrine Meech (16 votes) as treasurer and Scott Koennicke (16 votes) as supervisor.

Township clerk Jason Cooley said there were also 16 voters last year, so voter turnout was typical this year.

Otto Township

A total of 15 voters turned out to reelect Conrad Mack as treasurer (2 year term) and to elect Jordan Vaughan as supervisor (3 year term).

Pine Lake Township

A total of 20 voters turned out to reelect Bob Sieling (19 votes) as supervisor (3 year term) and Ken Guck (16 votes) as treasurer (2 year term). Elle Starzl (20 votes) was also elected to complete an interim position of supervisor to fill the vacant spot. Starzl’s term will end in 2024.
