Sheriff deputies, on May 16, were still seeking a driver involved in a two-vehicle accident close to 9 p.m. on May 15 north of Deer Creek in eastern Otter Tail County. The accident took place near the intersection of Highways 52 and 106.
The victims of the hit and run, a driver and three passengers, were fortunately not injured. Witnesses said the hit and run driver ran a stop sign while east bound, without slowing down.
Those witnesses also said the hit and run driver later came back, checked the status of people in the other vehicle, but then fled eastbound on Highway 52. Witnesses said he was possibly impaired.
Sheriff deputies, on May 14, reported the theft of close to $1,500 worth of tools from a residence on 268th Avenue in western Otter Tail County. The theft likely took place over the winter months when the resident was in one of the southern states.
The assorted tools were taken from a Craftsman tool chest.
Operations center centrally located
The Sheriff Department Operations Center in the city of Ottertail is centrally located and provides an opportunity for citizens to utilize the services of the Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Office without traveling to Fergus Falls.
The buildings are connected via phone and data which allows citizens to obtain services at either location. The Ottertail facility, near the east side of Otter Tail Lake, also provides much needed garage space, including room to store special response equipment.
The Patrol Division, Water Patrol, and the Investigation Division, including Narcotics Investigations, are now located at the Sheriff’s Ottertail Operations Center (OOC).
A training center, intoxilyzer, holding area, interview rooms and evidence processing were also included into the design of the building.
