The Otter Tail County Historical Society’s tour of Mt. Pleasant Cemetery is Friday, June 2, 7 p.m.

Located on a hill overlooking Clitherall Lake is the resting place of many Cutlerites, the Mormon splinter group that founded Clitherall, Otter Tail County’s first permanent settlement. Led by Alpheus Cutler, the group was living in southwestern Iowa  until a vision by Cutler directed them to Minnesota to seek a swath of land between two lakes. With over a thousand lakes in Otter Tail County, how did the Cutlerites decide upon Clitherall? The tour highlights their journey and some of the people buried at Mt. Pleasant.

Mt. Pleasant Cemetery is located four miles east of Battle Lake on State Highway 210. Look for the sign at the side of the road.
