New York Mills sophomore Jada Goeson wrapped up her track season with a seventh place finish in the 800-meter run at the state track meet on Friday night. Goeson qualified for the finals in ninth place after breaking her own school record with a time of 2:20.38. 

In the finals, Goeson finished with a  time of 2:21.31, which was .33 seconds in front of Braelyn Merritt of Canby/Minneota who took eighth place in the finals. 

Goeson, who is just a sophomore was just 5 seconds off of first place in a fast 800-meter run. She was just one of two underclassmen who finished the finals in the top seven. 

Goeson was the lone Eagle to advance to the state track meet last week.
