There was no shortage of fishing tales being shared on the front lawn of the Brunswick boat factory in New York Mills last week. After all, many of the best fish tales begin when the boat was launched in the water.

On Wednesday afternoon, 2023 Bassmaster Classic champion and Lund Pro Team Angler Jeff Gustafson, stopped in NY Mills to not only tour the boat factory, but meet the staff at Brunswick and a number of local fishing fans.

“I just wanted to be able to bring the trophy and share it with everyone in New York Mills and Lunds,” said Gustafson.

Earlier this year, Gustafson won the 53rd annual Bassmaster Classic tournament in Knoxville, Tenn., while fishing on his Lund 2075 Pro-V bass boat. Throughout his time in NY Mills, Gustafson said the boat, and Lunds in general, played a roll in his success on the lake.

“Central Canada and the Midwest, we are in Lund country,” said the Kenora, Ontario resident. “As a kid Lund Pro-V was the Cadillac of boats.”

Throughout his time in NY Mills, Gustafson shared stories with fans, received updates on the local bite, while also letting staff members and guests hold the large, and heavy, Bassmaster Classic championship trophy.
