Gaudette hits a pair of home runs to life NYM past DC 8-3

Derin Gaudette hit a pair of home runs and finished with 4 RBIs as the New York Mills Millers defeated the Deer Creek Shockers on Friday night. The Millers hit 4 home runs as a team with Brandon Kupfer and Adam Patron also hitting solo home runs in the win.
Deer Creek broke a scoreless tie in the top of the second inning on an RBI single, before the Millers took the lead for good in the bottom of the third inning with 4 runs of their own.
As part of the big bottom of the third inning, Patron earned a walk, before Austin Maneval and Shawn Schmitz loaded the bases up with back-to-back singles. Sam Kopveiler reached on an error that allowed pinch runner Teagan Lausten to score and tie the game up at 1-1.
Following a double play, Gaudette hit a 3-run home run to make the score 4-1 in favor of NY Mills.
The Shockers made the score 4-3 in the top of the sixth inning on an RBI single by Blom and a wild pitch that brought the third run across the plate. In the bottom half of the sixth inning, Kupfer hit a solo home run and Patron made the score 6-3 when he led off the bottom of the seventh inning with a solo home run.
The scoring came to a close in the bottom of the eighth inning when Gaudette led off the inning with a solo home run, before Maison Roberts hit an RBI triple to end the scoring at 8-3.
Gaudette led the way offensively with a pair of hits and 4 RBIs, while Caden Roberts picked up the win in relief as he went 2 2/3 innings and gave up just 2 hits and struck out 3 batters.
The Millers will return to action on Friday night when the host Perham at 7:30 p.m. They will wrap up the regular season on Sunday when they travel to Midway.
The Shockers will host Wolf Lake on Friday night in their regular season finale, while the Bluffton Braves will host Midway on Saturday afternoon in their regular season finale.
