The VFW Post 3289 Auxiliary met July 13 with 9 members present.  Four guests were also present from District 9 and the Crookston and Bemidji Auxiliaries.

Minutes from the June 15 meeting were approved, and the June 30 Treasurer’s Report was filed subject to audit.

The General Orders Bulletin for July 2023 from the Department President was read and discussed.  The Incoming National President will visit Minnesota August 26-28 and all Auxiliary members were invited to attend.  The Minnesota President and Commander joint special project for 2023-24 is “Veterans on the Water” and “Warriors and Walleyes Outdoors.”  Fall Conference will be September 21-24 in Rochester.

Committee chairs gave an update on our programs for 2023-2024.  Our Auxiliary will partner with the Finn Creek Summer Folk Festival and the Community Thanksgiving Meal as part of the Auxiliary Outreach Program.  Auxiliary community service hours and donation information for 2023-2024 will be collected by President Shirley Quist.

A drawing was held to pay a portion of life membership dues for one of our annual members who attended Auxiliary meetings in 2022-2023. Annual membership dues were paid for our Auxiliary members who are in nursing homes or assisted living. A thank you card was received from the Andy Hendrickx family. Three Auxiliary members marched in the New York Mills parade on July 7.

In other business

• Approved payment of bills and the Audit Report for April 1-June 30.

• Approved support for the District 9 President’s Special Project (Bemidji Veterans Home) and the Minnesota President & Commander Joint Special Project.

• Reviewed and approved the Auxiliary’s Standing Rules and Standing Payments for 2023-2024.

• Approved purchase of a bond for the Auxiliary President and Treasurer.

• Newsletter items from Auxiliary Program Chairs are due to Shirley Quist by August 16.

• We will participate in the Corn Feed August 18 with information about our programs.

• The annual rummage sale was tentatively scheduled for September 28-October 1.

• Discussed a calendar fundraiser.

  Our next meeting will be Thursday, August 10, 2023 at 6 p.m.
