Highway 67 project is underway

County highway construction highlights were reviewed with county commissioners on Aug. 8 by new County Engineer Krysten Foster. They are as follows:

• Highway 51 resurfacing, north of Perham, is expected to begin in mid-September. The County Highway Department is coordinating with Gorman Township to explore options for the Little Pine Lake frontage road connection.

• Highway 67 resurfacing north of Henning is underway. Options for replacing and redesigning catch basins on Highway 65, south of Henning, are being evaluated.

• Highway 35 paving in west central Otter Tail County is anticipated this fall with final work scheduled for 2024.

• County highway striping has been completed in some areas and is ongoing in other areas of Otter Tail County. Seal coating is mostly completed.

• The Pelican Rapids garage access road paving is anticipated to begin towards the end of August.

County design projects

• A Highway 50 proposal, west of Deer Creek, is under review for 2026 construction.

• The County Highway Department is working with Fargo-based Houston Engineering on the next steps for Highway 6 overtopping options west of Parkers Prairie.

• Moore Engineering of Bemidji will coordinate with Otter Tail County to follow up with a landowner request to lower the grade through the hill at Silver Ridge Road, south of Fergus Falls, in order to increase visibility on County Highway 1.

• Widseth Architectural Services of Alexandria will assist the Otter Tail County Highway Department with a master plan. Site visits and reviews of each current highway department facility will be scheduled.
