The New York Mills Millers had their season come to an end at the state baseball tournament on Sunday when they fell to Sartell by a score of 8-0. The loss comes on the heels of the Millers first state tournament win since 1969 and ends their season at their second straight state tournament.

Sartell broke a scoreless tie in the bottom of the fifth inning when Ethan Carlson hit an RBI single to make the score 1-0 in favor of the Muskies. Carlson would score later in the inning on a wild pitch to make the score 2-0.

The Millers stayed within striking distance until the Muskies were able to break the game open in the bottom of the eighth inning when they scored 6 more runs to take an 8-0 lead.

Sartell’s Jon Schumer kept the Millers off the bases for most of the night as he allowed just 1 hit through seven innings of work. He faced just two batters over the minimum as he struck out 6 hitters, gave up 3 hits and walked 1 batter.

The Millers were led offensively by Brayden Ehnert, Maison Roberts and Adam Patron who all collected a hit for NY Mills.

Austin Maneval took the loss on the mound as he gave up 5 hits and 2 earned runs over 4 2/3 innings of action. Nicholas Lindberg, who is a draftee from Vergas, pitched 2 2/3 innings and gave up 4 hits and 4 earned runs, while Caden Roberts pitched 2/3 innings and gave up 2 hits and 2 earned runs.

With the win Sartell will advance to the final 16 teams and will take on Maple Lake on Saturday in Delano.
