Accordions will be working overtime under the bright yellow tent near the Ottertail water tower from September 7-9 for the 13th annual Polka Daze celebration.

Each year the Ottertail Lions host the event and highlight several national acts at its annual Polka Daze celebration. This year will be no different as five bands will take the stage across three days of performances.

The event will kick off on Thursday, Sept. 7 night when Eric’s Dance Band takes the stage from 6-10 p.m.

Polka Daze will get going in earnest on Friday, Sept. 8 as Leon Olsen will take the stage for one hour performances beginning at 12 p.m. He will also perform at 2 p.m., 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. In addition to Leon Olsen, the Nate Frederickson Band will perform at 1 p.m., 3 p.m., 5 p.m., and 7 p.m.

On Saturday, Sept. 9 the Cathy Erickson Band will take the stage for performances at 12 p.m., 2 p.m., 4 p.m. and 6 p.m., while Jerry B. and Joyce will take the stage at 1 p.m., 3 p.m., 5 p.m. and 7 p.m.

In addition to the large yellow tent, Polka Daze is known for its large wood dance floor that is set up throughout the weekend. Camping will be available throughout the weekend near the Polka Daze celebration.

The event is sponsored by the Ottertail Lions Club and typically features several hundred people each day from throughout the Midwest. Polka Daze is open to the public with a general admission ticket of $20 on Friday and Saturday, as well as $10 for Thursday’s performance. Tickets can be purchased at the door.
