The VFW Post 3289 Auxiliary met August 10 with 15 members and one guest present.

Minutes from the July 13 meeting were approved, and the July 31 Treasurer’s Report was filed subject to audit.

The General Orders Bulletin for August 2023 from the Department President was read and discussed.  Our Auxiliary received a National Legislative Award for maintaining a consistent partnership and/or communication with young adult civic and/or political groups for 2022-2023.

Committee Chairs gave an update on our programs for 2023-2024. 

The District 9 Leadership will hold organization meetings August 12 and August 26.  Auxiliary members were invited to attend one of the meetings.

In other business

• Twenty-one members from the Post and Auxiliary helped at the American Legion Softball Banquet on July 28.

• Signup sheets for volunteers at the August 19 Wolf Lake Harvest Festival and the Finn Creek Festival on August 19-20 were passed around.

• The Rummage Sale will be held Friday and Saturday, September 29 & 30.  Donations will be accepted Wednesday afternoon, September 27 and throughout the day Thursday, September 28.  Ads will be placed in the New York Mills and Perham newspapers.

• Discussed POW/MIA recognition at home football games this fall.

• The Cancer Aid Benefit for Veterans and Family Support will be Friday, November 10.  Raffle tickets will be ready in time for the rummage sale.  The Auxiliary approved a donation to the Cancer Aid Benefit Drawing.

• Re-Elected the current New York Mills Auxiliary officers for 2023-2024 after consolidation of the Wolf Lake and New York Mills Auxiliaries.  Officer installation will take place next month.

  Our next meeting will be Thursday, September 14, 2023 at 6:00 p.m.
