The Perham/New York Mills tennis team wrapped up a busy week of action with a quadrangular on Thursday against teams as far north as the Canadian border. The Yellowjackets went 3-2 for the week after splitting a pair of matches against Long Prairie-Grey Eagle and Thief River Falls on Thursday and going 2-1 against Roseau, East Grand Forks and Pequot Lakes on Thursday. 

This week the Yellowjackets will host Moorhead on Tuesday and Crosby-Ironton on Thursday. 

Tuesday

The Perham/NY Mills Yellowjackets split a triangular on Tuesday against Long Prairie-Grey Eagle and Thief River Falls.

The Yellowjackets swept LPGE 7-0, but dropped a tough one to Thief River Falls 4-3. The Yellowjackets lost three matches in three sets in their match against the Prowlers, which proved to be the difference in an otherwise tight contest.

Violet Radniecki won both of her matches at third singles in straight sets after defeating Amy Hernandez of LP-GE by a score of 6-0, 6-0 and McKenzie Lee of Thief River Falls by a score of 6-0, 6-3.

At second doubles, Grace Wrangler and Samantha Pederson won match against LPGE in a nearly perfect score of 6-1, 6-0, before falling to Thief River Falls 6-2, 2-6, 10-2 in three sets. 

At third doubles the pair of Lucy Wallgren and Miley Anderson swept their match against LPGE by a perfect 6-0, 6-0, before also falling in three sets to Thief River Falls by a score of 3-6, 6-4, 10-6.

Thursday

On Thursday the Perham tennis courts were buzzing as the Yellowjackets hosted a quadrangular against Roseau, East Grand Forks and Pequot Lakes. The Yellowjackets went 2-1 on the day as they picked up a pair of impressive wins against Roseau by a score of 5-2 and East Grand Forks by a score of 4-3. 

In their match against Roseau, the Yellowjackets swept the singles matches by giving up just 10 total games, but were able to come away with a win at just second doubles in three close doubles matches. At second doubles, Samantha Pederson and Grace Wangler dropped the first set by a score of 6-4, before coming back to win 6-3 and 11-9 to take the match two sets to one.

At third doubles, Lucy Wallgren and Miley Anderson dropped a tough first set by a score of 7-5, before charging back for a commanding 6-1 win in the second set to force a third set. Unfortunately, they came up just shore by falling 10-3 to fall 2-1.

The Yellowjackets were able to pick up a close 4-3 win over East Grand Forks after winning at second, third and fourth singles, as well as third doubles. 

Violet Radniecki won her third singles match by a score of 6-3, 6-0 for her second win of the day, while Andie Janke and Wallgren came away with a 6-4, 6-2 win that proved to be the difference in the match against the Green Wave.

In their final match of the day the Yellowjackets fell by a score of 6-1 to Pequot Lakes. Kaia Anderson was the lone Yellowjacket to secure a win after she took her first singles match by a score of 6-2, 6-4.
