As temperatures cool and the craziness of summer winds down, the New York Mills Public Library has a variety of events planned throughout September.
Anyone who is interested in attending one of the events are being asked to preregister by calling the NY Mills Library at (218) 385-2436 as some events have limited space.
History in Hats
Missy Hermes, Education Coordinator at the Otter Tail County Historical Society, will be presenting on the theme “Otter Tail County History in Hats” on Wednesday, Sept. 13 at 6:30 p.m. at the library. This event was originally scheduled for April, but was postponed due to a blizzard.
Hermes will be sharing stories of some of the historical hats, hat makers, people, and events throughout Otter Tail County’s past. The event is free and open to all and preregistration is encouraged to secure a seat by preregistering. Participants are invited to wear their favorite hat.
Intro to Apps
Elevate and the public library have partnered together to bring a Technology 101: Intro to Apps session on Thursday, Sept. 14 from 2-3 p.m. at the Library. This session will walk people through the many popular phone apps and what their capable of, including many apps from local businesses and organizations in our area. The class is limited to 10 attendees.
Lego Club
For kids ages five to 12, Lego Club is a monthly group that meets for the fun and challenge of building with Lego bricks. There will be a building challenge as well as a free build time. This event takes place on Tuesday, Sept. 19 from 3:30-4:30 p.m.
Passport Series
September’s Coffee Talks program will feature local Christina Kickhafer as she shares her adventures and journey of living in Italy. Enjoy hot coffee and a doughnut from Farmer’s Daughter Rustic Bakery as you take in the sights, sounds, and stories of scenic Italy.
Cookbook Club
The Cookbook Club will be meeting in the Fellowship Hall at St. Peter’s Church at 101 W. Gilman St. to share their recipes from Paula Deen’s Southern Cooking Bible. Make sure to stop in at the library to select a recipe.
Afterwards, make sure to prepare the dish according to the recipe (no adjustments or substitutions) and share a creation on Thursday, Sept. 28 at 6 p.m. at St. Peter’s Church. At the meeting, individuals will be able to share and discuss the recipes and try all the goodies members from the group prepare.
