Sheriff deputies, working in conjunction with the Minnesota State Highway Patrol, reported two highway injures in eastern Otter Tail County at 1:24 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 3. The accident took place on Highway 78 in Rush Lake Township, north of Ottertail city and south of Perham.

Two vehicles collided in the accident. One vehicle was southbound on Highway 78 and the other vehicle was northbound on Highway 78.

The two injuries included those in a 2015 Chevrolet Equinox. Receiving non-life-threatening injuries were the driver, 28-year-old Sophie Nancy Sylvie Kirby and a passenger, 12-year-old Kaiden James Steffen, both from Dent.

Not injured in the accident was the driver of a 2016 Ford Transit van, 64-year-old David John Cox of Lake Park, Minn.

Authorities said wet roads were a contributing factor in the accident.
