NYM to travel to Henning in regular season finale

The New York Mills Eagles dropped a pair of games last week to Parkers Prairie and Wadena-Deer Creek. The Eagles are now 12-10 overall and 3-3 in the Park Region Conference. NY Mills has just one game remaining on its schedule, a conference game on the road with Henning on Tuesday night.

Both teams are currently tied with Bertha-Hewitt for fourth place in the conference. WDC is in first place with a perfect 6-0 record, while Verndale and Sebeka are in second place with a conference record of 4-2.

Menahga is 1-5 in the conference and Pillager is 0-6.

Following Tuesday’s game, the Eagles will be off until the start of the sub section tournament, which will begin next week. 

Monday

NY Mills dropped a close 3-1 match to Parkers Prairie on the road on Monday night. After dropping the first game by a score of 25-17, the Eagles tied the match up at 1-1 with a 25-21 win in the second game. Unfortunately, the Panthers were able to hold off a charging Eagles squad in the third and fourth games to come away with a 3-1 win in non-conference action.

The Eagles were led offensively by Ayla Olson with 17 kills and Alayna Baune who finished with 10 kills. 

Haley Korkowski had a solid night at the service line as she finished with 3 ace serves. She also led the team with 21 assists. 

Gabi Vaden led the team defensively with 19 digs, while Grace Brasel finished with 15 and Olson finished with 13. Kalyn Balbach also reached double figures with 10 digs in the loss.

Thursday

NY Mills ran into a juggernaut in the Wadena-Deer Creek Wolverines in their final regular season home game on Thursday night. The Eagles fell 3-0 (25-20, 25-15, 25-17) to the Wolverines to fall to 12-10 overall and 3-3 in the Park Region Conference.

The Eagles were led offensively by Ayla Olson who had a great game at the net with 15 kills and tied for the team-high in digs with 10. Haley Korkowski finished with a team-high 18 assists and 9 digs, while Gabi Vaden finished with 10 digs of her own.
