Eagles receive sixth seed in sub sections

The New York Mills Eagles will open the sub section tournament on Wednesday night against a familiar opponent. The Eagles received the sixth seed in the sub section and will travel to third seeded Henning on Wednesday. The game is scheduled to start at 7 p.m.

The two teams wrapped up conference play on Tuesday night when the Hornets were able to get the best of the Eagles 3-0, which dropped the Eagles to fifth place in the Park Region Conference. Last season the Hornets defeated the Eagles 3-0 in the sub section semi-finals in Henning. 

The winner will take on either second seeded Underwood or the winner of seventh seeded Norman County East/Ulen-Hitterdal vs. 10th seeded Lake Park-Audubon on Friday, Oct. 27 at the high seed. 

The Eagles wrapped up the regular season on Thursday when they went 2-2 at the Underwood Tournament. The Eagles defeated Roseau 25-27, 25-8, 15-10 and KMS by a score of 26-24, 25-19 and fell to Underwood 29-27, 25-22 and Sebeka 23-25, 25-23, 15-12. 

In addition to a pair of wins on Thursday, junior Ayla Olson picked up her 1,000th career assist.

NY Mills wrapped up the regular season with a record of 14-13 overall and a conference record of 3-4.

Tuesday

Henning was able to hand NY Mills its fourth loss of the season in the Park Region Conference as the Hornets defeated the Eagles 3-0. NY Mills dropped the first set by a score of 25-11, before battling back in the second and third games by scores of 25-16 and 25-18.

Ayla Olson led a balanced  offensive attack on Tuesday with 8 kills. Six Eagles had at least one kill in the loss as Grace Brasel finished with 5 kills and Annika Dunrud finished with 3. Gabi Vaden led the team with 14 digs, while Haley Korkowski finished with 12 assists.
