Santa Anonymous is gearing up for its annual donation drive as donation bins will be set out around town starting Monday, Nov. 20. Toys and new clothing items are being sought to bring Christmas cheer to a family in need this holiday season, as well as monetary donations for providing food boxes, fruit baskets, and poinsettias.
The organization provides toys and gifts for children ages infant through 18-years-of-age for the holiday season. These families can be nominated through the organization and have a variety of backgrounds. Santa Anonymous looks for families that might need to be picked up during the holidays, as they may have fallen on hard times, had a crisis in the family, or any number of things happen to change their situations on a given year.
The flowers and fruit baskets are given to those who have lost a loved one in the past year and would be feeling the loss during the Christmas season.
“They may not be in financial need, but we feel the support and caring displayed through the gift of a fruit basket or poinsettia during the holiday season is an excellent means of demonstrating the caring nature of our community,” said volunteer, Latham Hetland. “If you are interested in providing a financial contribution, you can drop any donation off at Farmers & Merchants State Bank.”
Hetland mentioned that they are always looking for more volunteers and that those interested are invited to call him at 385-2300.
The group has a tentative delivery date of Wednesday, Dec. 13 for sharing the gifts, food boxes and Christmas spirit. Donation bins will be collected before that time. Financial contributions are accepted year round to finance the totally-volunteer-led efforts.
