The VFW Post 3289 Auxiliary met November 9 with 14 members and two guests present.

Minutes from the October 12 meeting were approved, and the October 31 Treasurer’s Report was filed subject to audit.

The General Orders Bulletin for November 2023 from the Department President was read and discussed. Our Auxiliary received a national Buddy Poppy & VFW National Home Award for contribution to the Health and Happiness Fund.  The official district review of our Auxiliary records went well; all records are in order.  A thank you was received from the Minneapolis VA Health Care System for a donation to the Fisher House Fund and from Mahube-OTWA for a donation of hats and mittens.

Committee Chairs gave an update on our programs for 2023-2024.

The Veterans Day Program was held Wednesday, November 8.  Voice of Democracy and Patriot’s Pen contest winners read their essays and quilts were presented to area veterans.

In other business

• Approved one new application for auxiliary membership.

• Approved payment of bills.

• The Membership Appreciation luncheon was well attended.  Post and Auxiliary members were recognized and drawings were held.

• Approved purchase of fruit baskets for shut-ins and a monetary hardship donation to family of an auxiliary member.

• Discussed ordering cemetery flags and markers.

• Several Auxiliary members plan to attend the District 9 meeting in Fergus Falls on December 9.

• Draped the charter for Sharon Pihlaja, past Wolf Lake Auxiliary President and 3289 Auxiliary member, who passed away October 15.
