Bode Roberts took second place and three other Eagle wrestlers placed at the annual Jackhammer Invitational at Pequot Lakes over the weekend. A total of 29 teams competed in the tournament, which capped off a busy week for the Eagles as they also hosted a triangular against West Central and Osakis on Tuesday night. 

This week the Eagles will host a triangular against Park Rapids Area and Pelican Rapids in their final action before the Christmas and New Years break.

NY Mills dropped a pair of matches in a home triangular against West Central Area and Osakis

In their match against the Knights, the Eagles were able to dominate the lighter weights as Aiden Meech secured a pin over Bathan Brethorst at 114 lbs. in just 33 seconds, before Carlyle Tumberg won by fall over Payden Schimdt in 2:39 to give the Eagles a 12-6 lead. Isaac Geiser made the score 15-6 when he won an 11-7 decision at 127 lbs. over Evan Dingwall.

Following a forfeit at 133 lbs. for West Central Area, Creed Mursu put the Eagles in front by a score of 21-12 when he secured a first period pin over Colton Braun-Koplin at 139 lbs. 

Unfortunately, the Eagles would win just two more matches the rest of the way, an Austin Geiser 11-7 decision at 160 lbs. and a Bode Roberts 12-1 major decision at 215 lbs., as they fell by a score of 39-28.

In their other match of the night, Osakis was able to get the best of the Eagles by a score of 38-23. Osakis was able to control the lighter weights as they jumped out to a 27-0 lead before Mursu won a 6-3 decision at 139 lbs. 

The Eagles lost the next three matches to fall behind 38-3, before Joe Mann and Bode Roberts won by forfeits and Blake Unger won by a 5-1 decision. 

Grady Roberts brought the match to a close with a pin at 285 lbs. to make the score 38-23 in favor of the Silverstreaks.

NY Mills senior Bode Roberts placed second at the 29-team Jackhammer Invitation at Pequot Lakes over the weekend. The tournament featured teams from across northern Minnesota, as well as the Twin Cities metro area. 

Roberts advanced to the championship match at 215 lbs. with a pin over Charles Sompon of Irondale-Spring Lake Park-St. Anthony Village at the 1:05 mark of the second period. He went on to defeat Colton Long of Howard Lake-Waverly-Winstead in the quarterfinals by a 5-2 decision, before handing Carson Gilbert of Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa his first loss of the season in the semi-finals when Roberts was able to secure a pin late in the third period.

In the championship match, Roberts fell to Cy Kruse of Totino Grace by a fall at the 1:18 mark of the match to place second.

Also placing for the Eagles was Creed Mursu who took sixth place the 133 lbs. division after falling to Brody Mistic of Blackduck-Cass Lake-Bena by a 14-8 decision in the fifth place match.

Aiden Meech took sixth place at 114 lbs. when he fell to Noah Welte of Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa by a fall in the fifth place match.

Blake Unger took seventh place at 189 lbs. when he won a 6-2 decision over Gus Thompson of Deer River and Austin Geiser took eighth place at 160 lbs. when he fell to Ethan Mueller of Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa by a 4-0 decision in the seventh place match.
