The New York Mills Eagles fell to 1-5 on the season as they dropped a tough 53-38 game to the Menahga Braves on Thursday, Dec. 14. 

While the Eagles lost the game they were able to hold a high-powered Menahga offense to their lowest point total of the season. NY Mills trailed by a score of 29-16 at halftime, before picking up the pace a bit in the second half as the Braves outscored the Eagles by just a 24-22 margin. 

Both defenses made things difficult for the other team as the Eagles turned the ball over 36 times, while the Braves turned the ball over 25 times as well. NY Mills shot jut under 36 percent from the field, while the Braves connected on 44 percent of their shots in the win. 

Ayla Olson led a balanced scoring attack as she finished with a double-double by scoring 10 points and pulling down a team-high 16 rebounds. Rosemary Laudenbach and Grace Brasel each scored 7 points, Alayna Baune scored 6 points, while Annika Dunrud and Violet Radniecki added 3 points and Gabi Vaden rounded out the scoring with 2 points. 

Last week the Eagles defeated Parkers Prairie by a score of 47-37 for to improve to 2-5 on the season. 

This week the Eagles will participate in the Pelican Rapids Tournament on Thursday and Friday.
