Parade to be held in St. Louis on March 16

The New York Mills Marching Eagles will be taking their show on the road in March as they will travel to St. Louis, Mo. to participate in the St. Patrick’s Day Parade. Each summer the marching band performs at a number of community events and parades, including the Summer Celebration/Lund Mania Parade in NY Mills.

The New York Mills Marching Eagles will be taking their traveling show on the road in March.

During its regularly scheduled meeting last Monday night, the NY Mills School Board approved an overnight trip for the marching band to attend the St. Patrick’s Day Parade in St. Louis, Mo. from March 15-19, 2024.

The 55th annual St Patrick’s Day Parade will be held on Saturday, March 16, 2024 at 12 p.m. in downtown St. Louis. The parade is comprised of over 120 units, including marching bands, floats, cartoon-character balloons, over 5,000 marchers and plenty of clowns. 

The parade typically attracts over 250,000 spectators each year.

In addition to the overnight marching band trip, the school board approved an overnight wrestling trip to Casselton, N.D. on January 5, 2024 to participate in a wrestling tournament.

• Acknowledged the following donations: $500 from Viking Coca-Cola for the Footprints Foundation, $2,400 from the NY Mills Lions Club to the elementary girls basketball program, $325 from the Bluffton Lions Club for Close Up, $1,500 from the Ottertail Rod and Gun Club for the fishing league and $4,000 from the Ottertail Rod and Gun Club for the trap team.

• Approved the following appointments: Jackson Veazie as assistant speech coach, Jason Boe as mock trial coach, Roland Hermann as part-time cleaner, Amber Piekarski as cleaner and Scott Maki as part-time cleaner.

• Approved the resignation of Matthew Brown as elementary special education teacher.
