Dennis Warner and Dan Neale will be performing their acoustic blend of up-tempo music, funny songs, humorous stories and storytelling ballads at the New York Mills Public Library on Friday, Jan. 19 at 6:30 p.m.
Warner is a fiscal year 2023 recipient of the Creative Support for Individuals grant from the Minnesota Arts Board. Admission to the event is free-will donation and more can be learned about his music at www.warnersongs.com.
This event is a collaboration with the NY Mills Regional Cultural Center which has lined up an outreach event at the NY Mills School earlier in the day to share a concert with K-6 students using his book, Beads on One String, to learn about conflict resolution and the importance of positive behavior and interaction.
Warner’s book, Beads on One String, is now in its ninth printing and originally started out as a song about the connectedness of the world. It has grown into a popular behavior and bully prevention program in elementary schools and has received high praise from librarians, school counselors, principals, media specialists, teachers, as well as parents and students.
Additional lessons afforded to the students include learning the song Beads on One String from music teacher Amy Sobieski, as well as an art lesson on creating their own beads by Cheryl Bannes, Artistic Director at the NY Mills Regional Cultural Center.
The concert at the library is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board while the Elementary concert is made possible by funding raised through the annual Community Carnival.
