In one of their best games of the season so far, the New York Mills Eagles fell just short of knocking off Bertha-Hewitt in Park Region Conference action on Thursday night. The Eagles battled foul trouble throughout the game, but were able to rally together to keep the game within striking distance throughout the contest.

“We played hard with a clear goal in mind but couldn’t quite get enough stops as we battled major foul trouble the whole game,” said Baune.

The Eagles ultimately fell by a score of 70-61. The Eagles were led offensively by Teagan Lausten and Sam Kopveiler who combined to score 21 points in the loss.

On Thursday night the Eagles ran into a buzz saw as they traveled to ninth ranked Henning to take on the conference leading Hornets. Unfortunately, NY Mills got into a bit of foul trouble and was unable to slow down Henning’s offense as they fell by a score of 74-32.

Despite the loss, Baune said the Eagles handled Henning’s pressure well, which was a point of emphasis heading into the game, but were unable to overcome the Hornets.

This week the Eagles, who are 0-13 overall and 0-7 in the Park Region Conference, will travel to Verndale on Thursday night in their lone action of the week.
