New York Mills improved to 8-8 overall after splitting a pair of games in recent action. 

The Eagles defeated Browerville on Monday, Jan. 22 by a score of 62-42, before falling to Wadena-Deer Creek three days later by a score of 54-51.

This week the Eagles will host Henning on Thursday night and Norman County East/Ulen-Hitterdal on Friday.

Jan. 22

NY Mills took an early lead and never looked back in a 62-42 win over Browerville on Jan. 22. The Eagles led by a score of 31-24 at halftime and were able to hold the Tigers to just 18 points in the second half to come away with the win. 

Annika Dunrud and Alayne Baune had big games from the field as they led the charge with 19 and 18 points respectively. Dunrud finished just 1 rebound shy of getting a double-double as she finished with 9 rebounds, 5 assists, 3 steals and 6 blocks in the win.

Grace Brasel scored 9 points, Gabi Vaden scored 8, Rosemary Laudenbach scored 5 and Abby Riedel rounded out the scoring with 3 points.

In a game that came down to the wire, Wadena-Deer Creek was able to hand NY Mills just its second loss since the start of the new year on Jan. 25 with a 54-51 overtime win. 

The Eagles erased a 26-24 halftime deficit to outscore the Wolverines by a 21-19 margin in the second half. Unfortunately, the Wolverines hit a pair of 3-pointers and made one shot from inside the 3-point line to edge the Eagles 9-6 in the final frame of action. 

Alyana Baune led the way scoring with 13 points, while Gabi Vaden scored 12 and Annika Dunrud also reached double figures with 11 points. Rosemary Laudenbach scored 8 points, Grace Brasel scored 5 and Abby Riedel rounded out the scoring with 2 points.
